As the founder of DREPANOCARE, Mr. GOTTO MOKOLONGO launched a movement aimed at raising awareness among the public and policymakers about the impact of sickle cell disease, while working to improve medical care, prevent complications, and reduce inequalities. DREPANOCARE has established itself as a leading advocacy and awareness organization, particularly in the Central African Republic, where it played a key role in the development of the national sickle cell disease control plan in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Population.
Beyond his role as founder, Landry Wilfried GOTTO MOKOLONGO is also a Patient Partner and social entrepreneur, recognized for his expertise and commitment. He is the initiator of an innovative pilot program integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) into psychosocial support and Therapeutic Patient Education (TPE) for individuals living with sickle cell disease in Africa and France.
This innovative approach aims to improve patients’ quality of life by helping them manage chronic pain, stress, and the psychological challenges associated with the disease. CBT is widely recognized for its effectiveness in chronic pain management and in enhancing patients’ coping skills.
